Kay Draughn

Kay Draughn is an extraordinary public servant. She is professional, prepared, organized and welcoming. She makes everyone feel at ease, heard and understood. She is a bridge builder, who tries to build cooperation, better understanding and strong community. She sees the big picture - many people in our community want the same things - a healthy community where 1) neighbors help one another, 2) everyone is treated fairly and respectfully and 3) we take care of all parts of our county - its people, its animals and its natural resources. She manages to quietly and joyfully remind us all that we are all on the same side, and we can do much by working together. She exemplifies the best of public servanthood and is a star representative of Burke County, North Carolina. It is a privilege to nominate Kay to the Wall of Honor.
